Calculate YOUR PAY Before and After Project 2025
This quote is directly from Project 2025
"Specifically, employers and employees should be able to set a two- or four-week period over which to calculate overtime." (page 592)
How does the calculator work?
- BEFORE Project 2025, overtime kicks in after 40 hours in a week (per the current Fair Labor Standards Act)
- AFTER Project 2025, it uses their proposed four-week period. So OT only kicks in after 160 hours.
Think like a boss and Think of a Friend
- To assess the full impact of Project 2025 on your pay, imagine your boss is an asshole (still with me?) and decides to change your schedule around to work as many hours as possible for as little OT-pay possible.
- They could have you work 14 days of 12-hour shifts in a row, and only pay you 8 hours of overtime (compared to 88 hours of OT before Project 2025).
- Working 2-weeks on/2-weeks off is already standard in some industries. Do you know someone working those hours for the overtime? Anyone who depends on overtime at all? You might want to let them know what they're voting for.
